how else will you get it back if you wait on the law? go to his door, dont "pop a cap in his ass", walk into his grage, get in and fkn drive off, big deal he cant acuse you for stealing? what will he get you on? tresspassing? if he hits you ect get a mate with a camera to film you get hit and hit him back, doesnt wana cough keys up just look for them big deal, better than losing your car

don't worry bout law or cops. they will be a burden to the process of getting your car back. I say confront your "friend" civilly and discuss. Sort the differences out. no violence required. you never know, may even be a simple misunderstanding in the middle of all this hype. chances are, you'll be able to simply give the cash and take your car without any further issues.
good luck anyway

^^^^as above. show up at his place with the $500 and see what happens, say he will get the cash when u get the car back safe and sound, it might be an idea to take a big rough looking mate with ya in case old mate with ya car tries to give u a hiding and take your money anyway.

if the bloke who supposedley has your car comes up with some bull**** story on the spot as to why u cant get your car back even though u have the money there i think its fair to assume that its either stripped or no longer in his possession. in which case im sure u will know what to do next

which means I never transferred the vehicle into his name. HE DOES NOT OWN IT.

Just because a car is registered in your name doesn't mean you own it. Common mistake by people. Receipts for amounts paid imply ownership not registration papers.

Because a financial transaction to the amount of $500 has taken place between you both also complicates it further. You handed over the car and he/she handed over cash, therefore making it a civil matter of having the other party pay in full or return the car if you can prove your agreement. The onus is on you in future transactions to write up a contract agreeing to sell the item for X amount before ownership takes place signed by both parties. All you have is a big fat case of 'he said/she said' which is why no one wants to touch it - too many gray areas.

Life skills and experience usually show you that trusting friends, family or any human being is ultimately a stupid move. Being shafted sucks, being shafted by a friend or family member really bites. Always best to make it a little uncomfortable and insist on paperwork when doing anything involving money. Honest upfront people will happily sign and probably will be glad you asked them to protect them as well. Only the dodgy ones throw up barriers and try to talk you out of it.
