So I started my car today and it started making a really strange noise. It appears to be coming from inside the engine.
Engine oil is full and I've removed all of the belts to see if it was a bearing but no luck.

Here is a video of the engine idling to show you what it sounds like...

start with the top end mate. pull lifters and inspect cam but I'd say you should save time and just pull the motor or flick it as a rebuilder

That sounds a bit external to me. Check drive belt and everything it drives in the front...
Take it off and check all pulleys and harmonic balancer...

I've pulled all the belts off so only the harmonic balancer was spinning and the sound was still occuring.

Had it up on stands this morning with the engine running and the noise is loudest underneath near the sump at the rear of the engine away from the harmonic balancer.

So I'm fearing the worst and might be a bit out of my depth so will probably just need to take it to the mechanic now.

I appreciate everyone's input and help.

The noise sounds like it's at half the revolutions of the crankshaft. I'd be betting it's camshaft/lobe and lifter failure.

Good time for a rebuild.

probably spun a bearing/big end.

definitely get it looked at and drive it as little as possible.
