yeah your right mate. No head work just machined. Invoice is below. I’ll leave the carby for now.

So what he means is the rod big ends were resized.

The way that guy wrote that invoice is stupid. He just gave it a freshen up and didn't even bore it.

There is an optimum size for a carburetor. You don't mention what you have. As the engine has had a fair bit done to it it is likely to be the correct size. Wait until you have it on a dyno and go from there.
Thanks for the info mate!! I’ll see what the dyno figure is!

Nowhere in that invoice does it mention any 308 parts.

You have a stock 253 with new rings bearings and seals. He didn't even change the pistons ffs.

Not the whole invoice.

Fair enough but unless the block has 308 on the side it's not a 308.

Just out of interest I calculated what cubic inch a stock bore 253 would be with a 396 crank. 3.625" bore x 3.875" stroke gives you a 319ci engine.
Changing the bore to 3.685" gives you a 330ci engine.

You cannot bore a 253 to a 308. They both use the exact same stroke.
Someone is feeding you BS because conrods don't have tunnels lol.
In 1974 I had a HQ GTS 253 Manual at Castlereagh Drags Sydney and got 13.70 seconds at 100 Miles per hours. The scrutineers got my car and capacity checked it by using a device that plugged in one spark plug got the capacity then multible by 8 and they got around 260 Cu in.
Yes I have on the side of the car in white shoe polish "253 V8 Forever" Yes all the tough 350 Monaro and Ford 351 laughed at me as they would come up to me a say what donk on your car and I said 253 them the laughter started but all they saw is my rear of my car at the end of the strip..

Still have the Photo + the time slips in a frame in my garage. After this I replace the Block to a 308 Commercial Block.

Think you have been told a few porkie pies bud or just misleading info...if it's got stock heads & compression ratio sure it will sound good with a cam but wouldn't expect it to be fast even if similar mods to 308.

Yes back in the day (80's early 90's???) for silly money could build stroker 253 to something like 270'ish cubes market was for p plater restrictions iirc

Think they were similar to 330 stroker kits for 308 but obviously 253 crank & much smaller 253 bore size.

Nah would've been a 355 crank in a 253.
Strokes are the same but bores are different but for some reason holden made the casting smaller around the bores on the 253.
If they left it the same the 253 would.be a champ
