If it has std on the compliance plate, the shocks you ordered are correct, unless you or someone else has lowered it.....
If you have never replaced the shocks in the 13 years you have owned it, they will be foobarred and yes it will have sagged....Shocks should be changed every 2 to 4 years depending on the mileage traveled.....So in effect you should have swapped out the shocks at least 3 times in the time you have owned the car.
Agree with you the shocks and or coils could possibly use upgrade, despite very low , only done 120k Kms for 2008, hence why investigating all this now to do this.( no issue and not failed yet)
In other forums, they calim that STD on Calais V circa 2008 was FE1.5 ( i cant validate this as only have the Holden trim height specs table and it only talks about (FE1, FR1, FE2)
https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/ve-calais-v-suspension-confusion.137968/
anyone know, does STD = FE1? or different again.
so my unknown confussion is what is STD. Curently car sits at aprox 390mm as per table. (dont know if upgraded prior to my buying @1.5yrs, ior just sagged over the years)
So if i would like to maintain the current look aprox 390mm, see coupe pics
according to King springs, they recommend Monroe GT Sport shocks(reduced height shocks compered to GT Gas).
Found the following JHB shop in melb(unfortunately im syd) where they have a table showing equivalent ride heights with different model King springs
https://jhp.com.au/shop/suspension-brakes/king-spring-set-holden-ve-commodore/
Has anyone put say KingSpring
KHFL-150SL on standard shocks (egMonroe GT gas or equivalent) and not the shorter GT Sport type shocks ?
If so what was outcome ?
or if you lower coils you should always get recommended shorted shocks as well?
my objective i guess is to slightly upgrade old 13yr suspension(120K km which not failed yet), whilst keeping the existing ride height..(keep at current approx 390mm gap)
sorry suspension newbie here
so any tips/ advise be greatly appreciated to clear the mud
