SV6 VF (2013) Commodore has a lot more power when starting up.

So my Commodore seems to have a lot more power when I first start her up, and when I let go of the brake she just goes without me having to push the accelerator. Once she warms up, it's back to normal. Any ideas what this might be?

It runs a higher base idle when cold to heat up the catalytic converters quicker.

Absolutely. It's the modern equivalent of the choke. In case you're too young to know what a choke is (i.e. Gen Y/Millenial) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choke_valve

I like to start mine and wait for the revs to come down just so im not dragging it into gear at 1200rpm.
Personal preference.

Yep I do the same with my ‘14 model. It’s only maybe ten seconds when engine is cold.
