so after about 9 months since having my own car i finally brought one!
with my trip late next year to the Simpson desert it obviously had to be a four wheel drive.
this one came up and i am quite happy with it, i do still want a nice ute.. but all in good time!

so 2000 Nissan GU patrol 2.8 turbo diesel

Lift kit
All terrains
blocked egr
Bull Bar
9500lp ironman plasma rope winch
duel battery
and the usual speakers/stereo (soon to change)

future looking at:
boost gauge (probably controller too?)
UHF radio
tune
exhaust
and bigger wheels!

Looks good man. Before you start playing with boost definatly get a boost and a pyro gauge.

What's the performance like on the 2.8?

its actually good, for a small motor has alot of go.

i had heard some bad things from talking to the 4.2 owners.. then i did alot of research and spoke to some 2.8 owners and heard nothing but good.
the petrol models were **** i know that. but went on the patrol forums and everyone had good things to say

The only Nissan motor's i've heard of with issues was the 3.0L "Hand Grenade" Shame they dont have enough torque to comfortably tow or i'd be looking at one.

The 4.5 petrol was really lack-lustre when i test drove it. Didnt bother testing out a 2.8 though.

i doubt the 2.8 would be any good with towing, but for now what im wanting it for its good. after im a few years into my apprenticeship i will be looking to upgrade

3 litres are fine once you rectify the over boost issue. They even make full kits now to ensure it never grenades. Clean looking ride. Can't imagine it would be that gutsy being only 2.8 litres though.
