found the issue with the 4wd H-range not engaging, removed the tin cover at the front of the transfer and found the shaft was sticking so a little WD-40 and all good:p

its the spring loaded shaft in the middle with the hole for the pin, the pin locks it out of 4wd and when the pin is raised up the shaft will slide out by a spring engaging 4wd H-range

im going to go over the box a bit more and replace some seals as i might as well while its out and they have been in the box for over 10 yrs with no oil so best to be safe

got stuck in to the landy last week, removed the rest of the body and gave away the tray, the tray went today so now i can really get started, tomorrow im gonna clean the mess i made and then make more mess pressure washing the chassis and start removing the tired old 186 to make way for the more modern but still basic 200TDI.

The chassis so far looks immaculate and i dont think i will really have to touch it, but cant say until i blast the mud off it and see whats underneath, ive tapped over the common places with a hammer, seem solid.

cleaned up the driveway and pressure washed the mud and some of the paint off the chassis, it has a little surface rust over the chassis but solid still, ill treat it with some rust converter and prime it, now ive got to replace the broken caster wheel on the engine crane and remove the engine and gearbox
