Every V8 model series 2 VF, be it SS, SSV, SSVR, V8 Calais, V8 Caprice ALL get the LS3.
The build plates list the engine code as LS3, regardless of whether it's manual or auto, it's LS3 across the board.

The day I take delivery. Excited by the car, dissappointing customer experience.

Crappy service to the end, the dealer networks never fail to surprise.

To be honest ... Camden Valley Holden were surprisingly dealer-servicey. The purchase itself didn't feel like there was lots of pressure, the handover involved a good run-through of features & usage.
Even the first service was a pleasant experience (or would have been if I'd not gone for the Cruze loadn-car, what a complete piece of rubbish & I honestly can't believe they're bothering to try & compete even with a Corolla let alone a Focus or Golf).
It's just a shame they're so far away.

^ agree with you on this Forg. This is my 3rd new car from CVH. Whilst the delay is frustrating, I think being early adopters and ordering various factory options combined with needing to have the right starting point car produced in this production period makes it a bit more difficult than walking in and buying a car off the showroom floor.

The dealers would mostly be relaying what the factory is telling them.

My latest ETA is now Friday.

VF2 V8 engines start with DGD in an auto. Not sure about manuals, I think it's DGA.

More cars than I've got space to park!
Thanks timandhaley, very interesting, is that a sedan?

They seem to have a new "DG_" code for the VFII V8's then, I suspect we will find "DGA", "DGB" & "DGC" in use for various others, I have a feeling that different shapes have their own codes, utes and/or wagons for example?

If anyone has a different V8 prefix I'd be grateful of the info, it will help greatly in identifying replacement motors etc.

I believe VF Series I V8's started with "CF_"?
