Welcome to Just Commodores, a site specifically designed for all people who share the same passion as yourself.
Getting very tempted. Do have a carby to fit and check operations. But then again I don't have suitable lighting..
THE Gold Coast streetcar community is in mourning after the death of Brad Lane, aka “Mr HDT’’.
The self-confessed Holden “nut” was home alone working on his beloved VC HDT Commodore when a trolley jack used to lift the vintage car shifted, and the vehicle crashed down on the father of two.
For more than 24 hours, Mr Lane’s lifeless body remained crushed under the Commodore he had lovingly restored to immaculate condition.
CAR ENTHUSIAST MAY HAVE LAY CRUSHED FOR DAYS
It was only when a concerned neighbour checked on the 48-year-old that his body was discovered.
Social networking sites were yesterday inundated with condolence messages for the man described as the ultimate perfectionist.
His award-winning VC Commodore — a Peter Brock-modified high-performance vehicle — was a regular on the auto show circuit.
He bought the car in 1999 as a wreck and transformed it into a car that won a swag of awards.
The engine and interior of the vehicle were completely modified and rebuilt.
Australian Street Car Magazine once featured Mr Lane and his beloved car on the front page of the popular magazine.
“Over 12 years of love and dedication have gone into this Holden to make it possibly the finest example of the VC HDT Commodore you are likely to see cruising the streets of Queensland,” the magazine said.
Editor Craig Muller was yesterday stunned to learn of the death of a man who had been one of his closest friends for years.
An emotional post on the magazine’s Facebook page paid tribute to a man who would be sadly missed.
