Some Positive Feedback
if the oil light comes on you have a serial data problem more often than not caused by a faulty ABS module, when these fault they short the serial data to ground causing all the things you describe.
unplug the ABS & see if the oil light goes out when running.
this is the easiest way to go.
most scan tools wont work as the only thing you will be able to read is the BCM with the ignition off.
in the case you mentioned it may have been a faulty BCM, very rare for them to fail inthis manner.
it is also possible that its a poor connection at the ABS module.
theres one big slide lock connector on the module under the bonnet.

Hi Rob and thanks heaps for your help,
i removed the connector to the abs and as you said the oil light and most of the warning lights disappeared, anly the ABS and after a while (after ignition) the trac light came on. I cleaned the plug to the ABS but no luck, its definately the ABS.
You also answered my other question, why would the abs take out so many other functions, ie temp guage, aircon, etc etc, well a short to a data line would certainly stir the pot.
Ive left it disconnected for now so i can have my aircon back (it gets hot in there this time of year...
Now the ABS module is located where?? Is it the whole abs Block including the aluminium block or is it the black moulded black bit where the connector plugs into?? is this removable from the aluninium bit, or am i looking at the wrong thing?? Also do u know the approx cost of these things??
Regards
And thanks for your help
