After months of tossing up between brands I've finally taken the step and the muddies are on order. I didn't get the most expensive and flashiest brand around but for what I want them for they should do just fine. I'm not concerned about how fast they wear or how noisy they are on the road because I think I'll be lucky to do 5,000Km a year on them.

Achilles Desert Hawk X-MTs in 265/70/17 which are going to go on my black steel wheels.

Not bad what sort of price were these, if you don't mind me asking?
I need to get myself a new set of muddies myself, thinking of getting 255/85/R16's (33's) this time.

I picked up 2 of the wheels today (other 2 need a few days to let the paint cure) and holy Jebus! These things look massive! I haven't had a chance to put a wheel on the car yet (that will happen soon) but sitting by themselves they look huge. We threw them on my mates MK Triton and they look sick.

I should have a picture up of one sitting on the rear by later tonight and in a few weeks I've got a trip coming up so there will be heaps more photos.

I knew they looked big!

This is next to the 265/65/17 Bridgestone Dueler AT 694s

And one fitted to the back. My trolley jack only JUST lifts the back high enough to put the wheel on. I think I have 10mm to spare. I'm going to put a front on tomorrow to make sure there's no issues with scrubbing or clearance but give that most people go up a profile I doubt I'll have any dramas.

Looks much better, have you thought about removing the side steps? I know they protect the door seals, but they hang down heaps! Also is your car lifted or is it stock (I'm thinking stock)? Also is you car front IFS?
Been on much tracks around the ACT?

Your front arch concerns me with those new tyres... They look like they may rip into the guards under full lock and full flex.

Nah, going to leave the side steps on until I get a set of sliders. They add a small amount of sill protection which I figure is better than nothing. Front and rear are both independant and it's currently stock height. When a lift goes in it'll only be 2 inches to save issues with CVs. Haven't done many tracks around Canberra but on ANZAC weekend I'll be off to the Victorian High Country with a few mates and I'll be sure to get heaps of pictures.

I had the exact same concerns so I asked on the Pajero forum and got the all clear from other people who have fitted the same size tyres. Should be good, at worst I'll rip out an inner gaurd but apparently with a bullbar it eliminates the the risk of it happening anyway.
