The l67 definitely has better rods.
It also has a slightly stronger piston and more ring gap from factory if memory serves me right.
Will need to use Ecotec heads or JB weld the injector port on the l67 heads.
If it were me I'd keep throwing $150 ecotecs at it . Proper build down the track if get sick of swapping them.
I never fit an engine without pulling it down for inspection. I have three l67's in pieces here and couldn't even ring slap one.
Top rod bearings usually cooked in them.
Usually have a mank bore from lim leaks.
Usually ovalised bore and ptw is crap.
Don't always like having the mains off and on again with out an align hone.
Moral of the story , it's better to not know then be up for a few grand if you don't want to outlay the few grand from the start.
