Urgent help please

My 99 vt keeps overheating. Hot alarm goes off when reads 3 quarters on gauge and has lack of power. Thermostats has been replaced along with the radiator cap and heater tap. Have only had it about 4 weeks . Sum times the guage on dash goes back down pretty quickly while still driving and sum times dosent . On cpl of occasions have stopped to let it cool down n pulled dipstick out n oil was smoking hot . Help please urgent as is my transfer for work n kids school

Did you bleed the system of air after the thermostat and heater tap were changed?

Are the cooling fans running when it gets hot?

Are you losing water? Could be a head gone if you suggest its losing power ?
