VE SII Sportswagon
Hi everyone, First time posting here after lurking for a few weeks before I bought my first VE, A 2012 MY12 VE Series 2 Sportswagon.

I followed most of the guides here on what to look out for when buying a used VE commodore but just wanted to get some more knowledge.

at 264xxxk’s what should I be looking out for? The previous owner was walkinshaw sports (also has some extras added by them) so its been taken care of well, has an up to date service book and also serviced every 6 weeks due to work.

What would be some of the things I should have checked before they end up costing an arm and a leg.

Looking at keeping this car running and in the family well into the future.

VE SS ute 360rwkw N/A, 2016 VF2 SS M6
at those kms engine and trans replacement coming up soon.

Personally get lower kms and service it well(my own VE daily is at 190k atm and serviced every 7500 and well looked after but it is getting the timing chain rattle at start up now), guy on here has one at 138k that just died.

Yeah trans has a sticker in the door saying next service at 306,xxxks or 11/2019.

Brake fluid also has a sticker at 261xxxks and says 11/17.

AC was regasssd on 05/18

What’s the go on Sourcing a rebuilt or reconditioned motor vs second hand motor, I’m adelaide based so my VE pickings are slim from what I’ve found, just seeking info incase the worst happens, will be getting a once over from the local mechanics soon to let me know what I’m in for and when.

Was looking at lower K’s VE’s but hard to find one with the budget i had and with needing a 2010+ VE with the IQ.

Price paid for this was with knowing the K’s where high and would need to account for future issues, everything else on the car is in pristine condition, drives great and really doesn’t reflect its distance traveled .

A tad alarmist I think. It all depends on how it has been serviced, I have heard of ve's going well over 350000 kms without serious issues. However I would see a automatic transmission specialist and get transmission fluid and filter change, in case it hasn't been done.( oops posted before me. issue has been done :) )
Of course keep eye on other fluids, but it sounds as though it has been well serviced.
Generally they are very reliable, but all mechanical things have some issue now and then.On these type of forums, people with problems post looking for solutions, not guys(or gals) with no issues.
A good investment is a Code reader to keep an eye on things, relatively cheap and very handy, heaps of posts on here about them.
Enjoy and drive it like any other car
