V6 Auto gear change problem

Hey there! Jumped in my car after work got half way home and It would not change out of second gear Thought I might have bumped it into second But nope it was in D tried to change it into 3rd manually but no differecne So i crept home and had a look over the car didnt see anything out of place Half hour later i went out for a drive and it was fine untill I was about 5 mins from my destination Could it be sensor related? Any ideas ??

Could be VSS failure, any codes set in the computer.

Nope no check engine or errors in efilive, Also i take it you mean speed sensor?

It sounds like you either have an ecu problem or a solenoid problem with the transmission

Its done 188,000 So could be transmission related Guess ill have to see how it goes

Give it a good kick! I had this once and just turned car off and on again went form start to stop and cycled through gears all dandy!

Sounds like your problem is one of the above though

Just curious does anybody know if these random moments would log error codes?? I don't get anything on efilive, Also what is the service interval for a auto gearbox really?? The fluid looks ok Its been over a year/half since its been done maybe it just needs a service? Oh also I had the battery disconnected on the weekend before this started to happened not sure if it would be related..
