I reckon any car that it turbo-charged will chew just as much fuel as a v6 if you hammer it around may be only a small motor but when you stick a turbo on it you need to supply more fuel ...

SSV8pilot - have you picked yours up yet? Make sure you let us know how it goes! Oh, and some pix would be nice!

Not yet - waited to see the coloured dash option in the flesh - which I saw for the first time last night.

Wasn't too keen on it - will now go with the all black which I think looks more classy. The seats with red inserts (or the full red seats as per my VY SS) and the full black dash would have been a good option.

Order being finalised after a couple of test runs - after that delivery just depends on availability

first of all well done on the SSV - cant wait for some pics when you get it

i, like some here are a car enthusiast and nothing makes me happier than a nice v8 manual....therefore my VT v6 is for sale and bought a second hand VXII clubby R8 which i have had for a couple of weeks and i am in love...
nothing feels the same...

as well as feul prices another thing that ppl would think would sway me away from a v8 is because i am under 25 so insurance isnt cheap.
but like someone said above:
YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE.

fuel price and insurance dont bother me....i dont earn big money but i dont have expenses like other ppl. i would rather give up, reduce or find an alternative on somethings and have my HSV.

HSV is there as a specialised company more for enthusiasts than for everyday jo blo...although everyday jo blo wants one too. so as long as there are the enthusiasts there will always be v8s....HSV might have less v8s or more 4cylinder or 6cylinder cars to cater for most ppl but the v8s will always be there

ssv's are soo nice, i went and had a good look at 1 2day, just after i was looking at it, the guy hopped in it and started it up 2 take it out, although the new v8's are quiet, it had a very nice deep rumble to it, it didnt even sound like he put his foot down at all but it took off alright, in about 6 or 7 years when i finish uni, the prices will have come down a fair bit and hopefully ill have a lil bit of money 2 spend, i might be able 2 get 1 then, just hopefully not every1's thrashed them

LMAO!!! 6 or 7 years? Poor poor boy... Just look at the VT II and VX I cars getting around today. Only a VERY small percentage of them would be worth considering...

Have considered a number of things - get a spare or not, stripes or not, red dash or not.

In the end have ordered the red hot with black interior - liked the rehot seats but did not like the red dash.

Decided no o go for the spare upgrade as later on may change the tyres to 35 profile and not 45 profile.

So basically - bog standard as it comes of the production line in redhot.
