I was investigating getting a reverse camera installed on my 2010 VE Series 1 Sportwagon.
However, while looking at the best locations for mounting a camera on the tailgate, I noticed that there is already a factory camera fitted.
The car has the older stereo system with the LCD display at the top, so would never have had a working reversing camera.

Is having a non-optioned camera installed at factory normal?
Can that camera be adapted to work with an aftermarket display?
The display I was looking at would have an RCA video connection and is integrated into the mirror.

Any advice is most appreciated.

VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
The only issue I can see is to make the factory wiring terminate via an adaptor loom to RCA.

It's probably not worth the effort when a reverse camera kit can be had for under $100.
