If its the older style one all you need to do is just pull it from the side up and it just pops off, the older one has 2 sections to it and either side will pop off easily.
If its the 2 part one you will be able to see the lid for the oil on the right.
The other style is a big ugly black box but im not sure how they come off, I think they just pop off aswell But I Have never removed one.

I think it got tight clips, so you need a bit of bending while lifting till it pops off.

pull them both directly upwards, in a ve its a bit of a squeeze but if you twist and bend, you WILL break or eventualy break the clips off

Engine cover

If it's the big ugly black cover like mine MY09, you unscrew the engine oil filler cap, lift the front of the cover to unclip then pull towards you.

that cover could look good with a nice 2 or 3 tone paint job:whistling

usually if the clips break it ruins the whole cover cause the clip mount is moulded into the case, you can either run around with a missing clip or aradite the mouldings back together.

if you use both hands on either side of the cover at the back and lift directly up then move your hands to the front and lift directly up, and all the clips are released just lift the front up and remove from the engine,

Thanks Fellas For info. The reason for this cover to come off is to get at changing the oil filter cartridge on the passenger side of the motor.Would that be right? For VE 2008 SV6 Ute.
