Vf commodore engine front cover coolant leak

Just received a quote of $2,000nz to repair, including gasgets, coolant and oil replacement. Would appreciate comment on whether reasonable. Vehicle has 120,000km.

man is that the price for the front i hate to see his quote replacing the thermostat at the rear

It’s usually the inlet manifold that leaks. Has an o-ring that gives out. It’s a cheap fix.

At worst a water pump and that too is an easy fix.

I think when mechanics quote like this they really don't want the job.
+1 probably being the o ring for inlet

Thanks all again. Fu hit the mark. Waterpump was also replaced while opened up. All completed for about a quarter of the original false diagnosis and quote by holden dealer.
