    Hi all,

I am wanting to remove my front grille and DRL surrounds to pasti dip them black as its much cheaper than buying the phantom black ones from holden.

    Has anyone tried this?

I had a look and am worried about breaking clips.

Does anyone have some pointers for removal?

    Thanks

    Matt

You'll probably need to remove both front wheels and inner guards for access.

You have to remove bumper (fairly easy) then it’s a massive pain in the backside to remove all the clips with out at least breaking one. I changed my grill etc to black and broke clips but it didn’t matter cause I had replacement black bits. But the drl you have to remove extra clips to separate from bumper to get at the clips to remove chrome part.

The bumper removal is the easy part.
There is 5 screws inside wheel arch then a bunch of screws under front of bumper once those are out open bonnet and remove plastic radiator shrouding and the you can get at the final few bolts to remove bumper.
All up the removal and reinstalling is straight forward and can be done within 30mins.

Like I said the clips are massive pain and will take seemingly hours.

I just did this a few weeks ago. Replaced my chrome ones with black. The only clips I broke were on the Fog lamp Bezel (little hard to remove)but I didn't read the instructions because I only found them in the box after I had already removed them. Not going back on the car anyway. Overall wasn't too hard.

A mate of mine plasti dipped his while still on the vehicle. He said he carefully tapped up most of the bar and inside grill but said it was worth it to avoid removing bar.
If you do want to remove bar, there are 2 good vids on youtube, easy search and find.
