Hi guys,

Purchased a vf1 redline a couple of months ago and absolutely love the car. Only issue is how bloody quiet it is. The series 2 sounds a hell of a lot better. Was thinking about getting a set of vf2 bimodal mufflers and running them with the valve open all the time. I am sure this mod has been done many times before. My car is an auto with afm. Question is

Is it direct bolt up?
will there be drone issues?

Thanks in advance

I'm almost certain that it will just bolt up, I'm not sure if you can get a software update to run the exhaust valves though.
It shouldn't drone, the S2 Redline's don't so I would say it would be much the same.

That all said, it may work out cheaper/better to go to an exhaust place and have an exhaust made up

Edit: Just spotted this thread, should be some useful info in there for you https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/vf2-exhaust-set-up-and-tuning-for-the-ls3.249289/

But no matter either vacuum or solenoid version, with bimodal flaps open all the time the noise influence of AFM hugely depends on the catback before them. Simply by putting the x-pipe in the correct location will make a huge difference.

My VF Redline, auto w AFM active sounds great OP. Just get a VF HSV mid section and VF2 rear mufflers. Plenty on eBay. Cheap and effective.

I used R8 centre section as well as the Bimodals on my Calais, sounds great IMHO.

Yep they sounds great.

This is mine. Note it has 340 headers and hi-flow catSS too. So, just the R8 midsection and VF2 rear mufflers will be quieter, both inside and out. Probably a better option if you're a bit sensitive to cabin growl ;)

Thanks alot for the info. The hsv center section and the bimodal mufflers sound like a good option. Will start keeping an eye out for them. I assume the hsv mid section will bolt straight up to my cats ?

Did you get the bimodal working too?
Is there any drone when AFM kicks in Cuda?
