Hi all. I would love to get an new exhaust and over radiator air intake on my ssv sportswagon. I have been told that I should get a 2 1/2" system as the 3" would drone because its a wagon. I am looking for that deep throaty nice v8 sound that we all love. would love to hear from anyone with a sportswagon and there opinions. (really love this car) cheers Bill.

Thanks Hyperduc, I don't mind the std sound with bi modals open but am looking at getting the upgrade with a better note.

I also have read elsewhere that the 3' can drone. Try Oztrack website. Monstar on this site recommends them from Penrith I think.

Assuming you have a LS3, here's what a 3" Difilippo system sounds like. I'm sure the 2.5" system would sound very similar.

Upgrade: OTR, headers, full 3" Difilippo exhaust with 3.5" tips, making around 300kw at the wheels

I have the OZtrack stage 3 kit with 1 7/8 Gennie Stainless headers and full 2.5" Stainless exhaust.. The thing sounds amazing! Have heaps of comments on how good it sounds, no real drone either.
Very happy with it.

Yes I have a wagon and have done a bit of work with managing drone and getting better performance. Here's a sound clip of mine with a 2.5", is quiet enough even with bimodal open:
View media item 249Currently collating a group buy for other members, so price should be good as well.
Re CAI they are all good, but they really differ in the ease of tune, fit, looks and maintenance. Harrop, VCM, DuSpeed, Orssom all good. RotoFab is neat, good for tuning too.

Reviving this thread. Just bought a 3” system for my tourer. Bought it from Mercury Mufflers in Brissy. It is the same system Harrop sell, has bimodal mufflers (uses your motors), 1 7/8” long tube headers, metal cats, 3.5” stainless tips and a modified cross tunnel brace to clear the bigger tubes. Having the headers ceramic coated and it will be fitted on the 12th of Oct.
Best bit, by the time it is on the car total cost $3K.
If you are interested, contact Jo, Alan or Michael and they will sell you a system on the proviso it it fitted by an exhaust shop. They organised this for me at very competitive rate (cash only).
Photos below (hope). Post fitted photos once done.
