VL Cutting out while driving.

The fluid is shagged, it's all clear not red :/ yeah that was my thoughts but doesn't really concern me, got a 20det box to go in, just need a clutch

Im not actually sure lol it needs an oil change anyway, the auto seems fine, no slip or anything

many here think the VL automatic trans doesn't have a limp home mode.
perhaps start with obvious things like dirty or loose battery connections

It's not the trans that's for limp home mode. It's an engine fault. It won't rev past 2000 rpm and if you slowly wind it up to 80 kms u can't go faster than this or the engine drops out and u can't throttle it for about 5 seconds then it resumes. I have had it do it a few times including about 2 months back driving back from caloundra to my house in pacific paradise I could not exceed 80kms and rev over 2000 rpm. Hence limp home feature
