well u need a v8 :), the ecu, wiring loom, engine mounts for the v8. probly get an auto thats made for the v8. v6 ones dont normally like v8's.

ull also need to uprated the springs in the suspension and also the brakes. also will need a bigger radiator as well.

that should get u started.

You'd probably be best off buying a crashed V8 (as late model as possible) and doing swapsies. Does anyone know if the VT 304 is a bolt up to the VN if done that way? Up to the VS certainly should be.
Some blokes I know at Commodore Frenzy Factory here in Melbourne only pay $1000 or so for mechanically OK write-offs at the auctions, including V8's. If I ever get the motivation to do a 5.7 swap into my VP I'll be doing it that way. Plus you get to sell all the leftovers or update the interior too if the bits fit.

pretty sure you'll find it hard to register a vt 5.0 or a vs sIII one.
also, not sure if anyones said it, but k frame, front springs, front brakes and discs, you can get away with the 65 litre tank, but i think vn's v8's had dual fuel pumps. you'll need a new gearbox, (you can mod the input shaft, but why bother) new radiator. new p/s, alternator (should come on the engine.
get a wrekc and get it all, chearper

ive done the same conversion and the list i need was.
motor with bolt all bolt ons and v8 trans or auto gearbox.
ecu and engine loom
v8 k frame with engine mounts
front v8 springs
auto cross member
power steering lines
accelerator cable
v8 radiator and hoses
tail shaft from same doner is better but a v8 tailshaft,
cluster swap to a v8 would be good as the tacho wont work properly
front springs you wont need st8 up but will be a bouncy ride and you will soon stuff your shocks,(i did lol) and you do need v8 ones in for rego,.
exuast will bolt straight up but a 2.5" redback system will work great with extractors.
front brakes wont need to be upraded if you have a early model vn built before july89 and fuel lines and pump will be the same if built in thet time.
it is wise though in future to ugrade many things to help with braking though.then let the power mods begin.

depends if you buy a wreck or source parts seperatly.
if you but a wreck u get some money back in selling left over parts,
fitting you can do urself but if you want to get a mech to do it, could be 800-1200 for fitting plus parts. but around 2-3000k

You may not even have to get a wreck, just depends how much cash you have now. You can buy the cheapest working v8 car you can find, then just do a total swap of engines between the cars and sell of the other car again with the v6 in it to recoup some cash, you may have to look into how much it will be to get it engineered and blue slipped.
