installed the rebuilt master cylinder and bled the system today (work homie passed by and gave me a hand). all set to finish putting the rest of the engine bay together today.

also the dash speaker cones had rips and had come away from the speaker frame. i decided to hit JB and grab some 4 inch replacements. had to bend the mounting tabs around and make new screw holes in the dash but got er done. didnt take pics of that though...

I share your pain with those weird 3 point speaker mounts.
Did you rebuild the master cylinder yourself or get a refurbished one? I was thinking of trying to source some sort of a rebuild kit.

its a 15/16. they dont offer the major rebuild kit anymore. the kit i bought comes with everything to do the main piston that stops the front 2 wheels and the reservoir seals. for the other side i gutted a newish vr master cylinder and swapped over the seals and pistons.

i wasnt sure where the brake fluid was leaking from so thats why i did all the seals. if your master cylinder isnt leaking and you just have a soft pedal the kit they offer should be good enough. if your not keen on breaking one open just buy a whole new unit, but FYI the kit i bought was only $30 so its a pretty big cost difference....

did the thermostat. today was the s1 vn buyers remorse day. had to take off the throttle body intake pipes and that other elbow the throttle body is bolted to as well as disconnecting the fuel rail line. then it took 10 minutes of wd40 and bruit force to get the thermostat housing off, thing mas as well have been welded on. i clamped it to the bench and put a wire wheel on the drill, wheeled that bish clean.

anywho thats all sorted and back together now....

did the rest of the new heater hoses. that big pipe running to the back of the manifold made the job hard, nowhere to put your hands. took me like half an hour to slip the hose over the 2 pipes for the heater core.

i also shortened a fuel hose, for some reason the dude that installed the engine for me put one twice the length it needed to be and it was doing a full loop from the firewall to the damper. also got its first wash, had an inch of dust on it. no all i have to do is run some flush through the system then put the green cordial in. good to go.

also the 2 front pieces of glass are scratched to kingdom come and have the worst tint on them ive ever seen. trying to take it off will scratch the glass further so i scouted some clean scratch free glass at the wreckers, $25 each ouch... oh well ball till ya fall, trill tawk... ill grab a battery at the wreckers and install the windows then. this car officially has no original glass now, its all been changed.

also is there a reason why the vac line coming out of the firewall for the heater tap is like 3 times longer than it needs to be? im wondering if its come loose from under the dash or something and been pulled through... anyone know where it connects under there so i can take a look?
