1992 VQ Statesman 3.8
Hi all

I’ve recently bought a 92 VQ Statesman 3.8. Nice original unit but a previous owner bypassed the heater core. Currently it has a hose from the front of the engine, through the one-in one-out heater tap, and straight to the back of the engine. Heater core pipes have hoses which aren’t connected.

Does anyone have photos or a diagram of the correct routing of the heater hoses? I’ve scoured the web, Haynes manual is no help. I’m a bit lost in terms of connecting everything in their proper place.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm on holidays without access to my GMH manuals so I can't answer your question, but I suggest you check the heater core doesn't leak before you pipe it up. I have an old Triumph TR6 where I bypassed the heater core when it leaked because replacing it was so painful. The same might have happened to your VQ.

Yeah, I’ll be checking the core before I go ordering new parts in case I need a new one. All online shops show a two port tap as fitting my car, and three heater hoses, which match that tap. The car confused me as it has a two port tap but four heather hoses in the engine bay.

Yes, it really is to do it properly. But a VQ is not bad compared to say a VE.
