Its done 240,000 k and the brakes are shocking. tried new pads twice, now on good ones but thats not the issue. ABS stops it from locking up if i stomp on the pedal but cant be working 100%. car takes ages to stop from 100k. What could be the problem? The mechanics have no idea. Also have a whole new hub up front with new disks but still no improvement.

If you fit quality performance brake pads such as bendix ultimates, along with 4 brand new discs, and bed the new pads and discs in properly, the brakes will work pretty good. This is what Ive done on my VS and it stops ok now.

VR brakes were terrible from factory, after 20 or so years of use they aren't going to be too good.

VT or VE conversion would be a good choice, I have just learned to live with it, after driving classic cars all my youth I have driven worse.
