my wifes vs ecotec had the same problem as your car , cranked over ok but hard to start . i played with it for nearly a year , changed spark plugs , leads , put reco injectors in , new coil pack and DFI module . anyway it finally **** itself and would not start , problem was FUEL PUMP in tank , problem solved . so you might be wise to get the fuel pressure checked by a mechanic useing proper gauge , because if pressure is low it will cause all the symtoms your car is showing . ........ hope this helps you.

I was about to say the same.
Listen out for the fuel pump when you turn the ignition to on before starting,
1stly, can you hear the pump prime.
2ndly, Does it sound OK when it primes or a bit like a low tank of fuel trying to suck up fuel and air??.
You need to diagnose it first. Then start replacing stuff that needs it. Saves alot of money that way.
There are more variables to look at too, like the O2 sensors. But its cheaper to test them with a multi meter instead of replacing them to find out it isn't because of that.
I have a gregory's here that can take you through that sort of stuff.

Wouldn't hurt if you don't know when it was last replaced.

When was the last time the leads and plugs were done? Where did you get the injectors from? What sort of fuel do you run? When was your fuel filter last changed?

If you change the fuel pump, do the filter at the same time!
