vr hub bearing abs

just replaced front wheel bearing hub vr my car vr non abs with non irs. not too hard with the help here, only needed one trip extra to buy 10 mm hex socket for the 3 capscrews also a breaker bar got away with 3/8 drive as one screw bit limited for space even when hub is turned, anyway my question is i have 2 bearing hubs with abs wire and plug is on them, is there any reason why i cant use them on mine as look same apart from the wire and connector, perhaps i could just snip the wire, any advice is great.

If its non abs car then they should be fine. Used ABS hubs correct??

Could you cable tie up the wire rather than cutting it? You just never know....

yes i have left and right bearing hub second hand came with struts, i bought last night by bad decision, now not needed, it was only the bush on control arm and one hub which i bought separate. has abs wire was going to list on ebay, some new ones are dear and could be fakes from china anyway, maybe i should just keep them as spares seein as they should fit mine, anyone else reckon they be ok? the bush for control arm is pricey 60-100 a pair , cant buy one, i ended up improvising a bush, for free, until i get the dollars, anyway works like a charm, we shall see how long it lasts. i reckon the worn bush caused the bearing on the other side to fail, all good now, back on the road again.

Have you tried Holden for a price on the bush? You may be pleasantly surprised.

The wire just plugs into the ABS hub - undo the bolt and it pulls off.

:undead::undead::undead::rofl2:thanks, bush inner control arm lower front prices are not too bad but i found big difference one shop 60 a pair and a well known suspension specialist said 140 he will press it out and in for me, but ebay is cheapest yet 40 plus post, the abs hub, thanks for advice re wire on hub , i will be using on passenger side, its noisy, not like the r/h i just put in a decent one, and new radius rod bushes , i wont forget to use rubber grease on the sleeves/bolts/bush and loctite on the hubs, hopefully this will sort out the tyres screeching and the erratic steering when i turn corner , if not i will get a wheel alignment and see then, its only a cheap car but couple more years left in her, its dual/fuel and 20 bucks a week to run me everywhere. thanks again this forum is excellent, i am new here.

Not wanting to rain on your parade but did you get a price from Holden?
The reason I ask is I'm fairly sure I paid around $60-70 for all the lower arm and caster bar bushes, 6 bushes in total.

lower control arm front

well its a week later and have time to start , gone a different path now, ive bought a complete arm with balljoint and good bushes already in it, second hand so its easy now I hope, altogether spent 55 for arm and 40 for radius rod bushes at the front of z bar , also have new hub and strut complete to replace on this passenger side, last week was r/h hub , hope this sorts out the l/h wheel at an angle, tyre not sitting flat to the ground, enough for it too screech the tyre, the old bush in control arm has disinegrated apart from a small section its a blue colour breaking up arm very loose lots of play, hope it works, going to start now have a couple of days off so taking my time on it.

point is fixed her without a mechanic and or bench press.....well its the next day and replaced inner control arm, serviceable 2nd hand control arm had ball joint riveted on so i used that one looked better anyway, replaced whole strut assy as mine had a torn boot, replaced z bar bushing at the front whiteline 2 piece job polyurathene black, with sleeve, and secured old link bushes to strut/torsion bar , was a lot of tension putting together but got there eventually, had to lever torsion bar down to fit link through hole in bar at bottom , just road tested and all my troubles are gone, no more screeching around corners and over bumps and no grinding from the r/h hub, only a little groan from the l/h hub , can change them easy now, second time around, job itself was a pain and gamble with myself attempting this but got her back on the road for $207 and a can of wd 40 in parts and a couple of weekends , now a bottle of scotch to celebrate. thanks for sharing this ordeal with me but bottom line is happy with 2nd hand arm with bushes and balljoint $55, hub bearing $50 and pair of struts $60 , now have o/s as spare just in case. z bar bushes at front were $42 so all in all a good outcome. steering now is great through the esses and u turns fine as well as 9o degree turns nice and comes back to centre nice, and tyres sound better on the road, upon inspection of old lower ball joint was found to be clicking and not smooth so lucky lucas.
