The fan issuse is caused by a fualty fan speed resitor sensor. It is a very common item to fail. It is located under the black plastic under the windshield. You will need to remove the windscreen wipers to remove the plastic. It is held in with two screws and looks like a small birdcage.
Also that wire near the battery that is connected to the body. If it is connected to the body then it is a earthing wire. It should be connected to the negative on the battery not the positive. Connecting it to the positive can result in serious damage to the electrical system.
