Heya,

Hopefully not a dumb question, but can I repair/improve the contact around the base of the globe holder? Just this one globe keeps going on and off and that circuit doesn't look the best.

Circuit pen/paint okay? (about $35 from office works etc) or is it okay to take to it with solder? Is there another product that would help the contact best - I've not played with this green boards like this before.

Cheers

crush the contacts on the globe (lightly) so it holds a little tighter then dont do it up all the way just go to a spot that it work good in

try cleaning it up first with a pencil eraser,
if you're handy with a soldering iron, solder the copper to build up the surface

I second that,
maybe clean the contact surface with some fine wet and dry sand paper,
then apply a thin film of solder [as mentioned above], and that should fix it.

careful with the sandpaper, you dont want to remove any copper, just clean the contact area

That's why you get the wire glue from jaycar.

exactly this, no heat, cleaned with a eraser and then applied the wire glue. 24 hrs too cure so it will go back in today and check its all working fine.
