I think maybe just easier to buy a new one rather then solder my ecu. I've located a vs manual 5.0l ecu for $150 which seems cheap so that's on the way, should be here by Friday, Also the memcal has a sticker inside the blue cover EXVSMAN, what's the ex stand for?

Sounds like it's been modified too.

Would you be able to tell if I were to post a pic of the memcal?

So here's a pic of the dodgy "hsv" chip + adapter and memcal (that's hopefully not fried).

Yep, most likely that memcal has had the tune modified, it's the only reason you'd remove the original sticker.

Good to see whoever programmed it used a good quality foil sticker over the quartz window.
If it survived you should look after it, the chip (eprom) can be damaged by static electricity, keep the blue plastic cover on it at all times, do not touch any of the metal bits inside.
Especially if you get a zap from your car when getting out a lot, make sure you are discharged before putting them in/out of the ecu.

I've definitely been treating it as fragile, I don't want to have to fork out coin for another tuned memcal. Fingers crossed it will work.

Any tricks I should know when installing and new ecu? Such as holding 2000rpm for 30sec on start up?
