vs statesman v8
Hey i've got an issue with my 97 statesman. Its a v8 i took out of a 94 vr but my battery isnt charging i thought it was my alternator so i bought a new one. It seems to still have the same problem, goes allgood driving it for a couple of days then all my warning lights will come on and ill cut out at the lights. Been a massive headache trying to eliminate what it could be.? Any tips on what it could b Would be muchly appreciated , cheers boys

Could be the alternator fuse. Have a look at the positive cables on the battery. The fuse wire can corrode over time and no longer work. Also the charge cable itself corrodes and can need replacement. These will be the likely culprits.

First point of call is check from the charge outlet of the alternator to the battery and see what voltage it is putting back into the battery and report back...From there, people might be able to start the diagnosis...Otherwise it's a case of a needle in a haystack

Probably need to measure the voltage to see what it's actually doing rather then just guessing.

VS Statesman should have a 3 window dash cluster, put the dash into diagnostic mode and cycle through the options till you see system voltage.

Yeah so i've fully charged my battery put it in and started it with headlights on . When im revving at 2000rpm the lights are bright but once i let off the gas and it drops down to normal idle the car cuts off. Cheers for replies boys. Trying everything

You need to measure the voltage. If the battery was fully charged even with the alternator not working at all it should still run for a while.

It does sound like it could be an alternator problem but first and foremost I would be cleaning all the earths on the engine and battery and also check the charge cable at the alternator and battery to make sure they are all clean and tight.

Then measure the voltage. Can probably get a cheap multimeter at supercheap or Jaycar or similar.

Has the battery health been checked? Has it been properly load tested?

Battery world can do that.
