Vs v8 Rocker Covers

Hey all, just wanted to check first, rocker cover gasket are leaking so just wanted to see if there is a preference on what brand?

Vs v8 - I think when I last did them about 5 years ago I used blue rubber style from Lowe.

Don’t want to be doing this again any time soon sure to shitty parts that alien bolt at the back was a pain last time hahah. Any secrets to make that easier?

Any other jobs I should look at doing while in the area?

I've used ACL rubber gaskets in the past. Install them on the engine first then fit the rocker covers. As you have stated, the Allen bolt at the back near the power brake unit is a PITA to fit/tighten. I ended up using a screwdriver with a flexible drive, together with a mirror to see what I was doing. Used some Blu-Tack to hold the bolt into the socket. Good luck!

Outlaw Speedshop, Proflow, VPW, Aeroflow all do different brands of V8 rocker covers if your looking for new aftermarket ones.

If you want 2nd hand genuine ones marketplace is your best bet.

I've got a set of Kilkenny Casting ones that came off my statesman if your in SA and want to buy (similar to these). They've had AN fittings fitted to the breathers and need a repaint though but they are there if you get stuck.

$150 will get them mate, just due to the fact that the paints a bit tired. They sell for $560 new at Outlaws.

You can buy a t shaped allen key that is about 230mm long. Still a bit awkward on the right rear but works. Don't forget to use thread sealant on the bolts.
