Take off the spark plug leads and check the resistance of each lead. If the resistance is too high or open circuit on any of them replace the leads. Take out the spark plugs and check them, how old are the plugs? These engines will start and idle ok with crook leads but break down under load and cause a shudder which feels like a tail shaft problem.

Is it an auto? and if so, does it only happen in top gear and above 80 km/h or so?

I had a "shudder" in a Commodore auto and it was torque converter clutch.

It would only do it when accelerating and felt like it was coming from back of car.

edit: can also be from a loss of transmission fluid pressure
