we have a series 1 VT acclaim (sept 97 i think...) and it has a radio/cassette head unit (no cd player)

is the VT/VX CD head unit any better in terms of sound quality etc or is the cd player the only difference?? also, is there any point in putting an amp in the stock system?

I'm also looking to upgrade the sound system in our lexcen (vn) and i want AT LEAST the volume and quality of the VT stock system
realistically, how much am i looking at?

if i upgrade the speakers etc in the VT, could i just switch the speakers across to the vn? could i switch the head unit over as well (it'd look a bit funny tho..)

any advice appreciated.
cheers,
sam

lets see if I can wade through the mess you call a post..:) Just kidding...
Yes, the quality will increase by putting in a cd player. Only because CDs are generally better quality anyway. YES put an amp in the stock system. The stock head unit has 20Wrms output....or....not bloody much. A small amp is worth investing in. Also I would strongly advise upgrading speakers.

You would need to spend atound 400-500 to get the same quality as your VT. Yes, the speakers will swap over as the rear speakers in a VN are 6" like like the VT but the fronts are only 4". The VT head unit wont' fit. The VN had space for two single DIN unit but not a Double DIN unit like the VT.

I would spend about 250-300 on the head unit and the rest on speakers. In reality, the 6" speakers in your VN already are exavtly the same as whats in your VT already.

No need to break the grand barrier and if you lift up the parcel shelf you will see where the 6" speakers are supposed to go;) and just run the speaker cables to them.
