LMAO My wife is currently in the US with my daughter so I keep in contact and chat with her of a nighttime when she gets up in the morning. As such, I have about three different commodore forums open at the same time...plus a HUGE cup of coffee beside me ;)

no i may have this entirely wrong as i have no idea what i'm talking about and a crossover is probably something else altogether

i'm talking about the show cars that run a power cable up under the car to run their audio/entertainment systems.

ahhh....I get it. Do you intend to show your vehicle? The 240-12 Volt convertors are extremely expensive. Not really worth it at all.

They are simply a box with two terminals on the front to hook up a positive and a negative and run it straight into your car, but disconnect the battery first;)

Jaycar sell one that is rated a small 30amps and it's about 400 from memory.

Goto www.jaycar.com.au
use the "keyword search" in the left hand column and search for this... MP3090

It's 13.8Volt regulated power supply and is rated at 40Amps not the 30 that I originally quoted. It's $399 Retail. If you have an ABN I suggest that you register with a company called Electus they are the Jaycars distributor and you will be able to purchase the power supply for around 300.

Definitly a cd player will have better quality and a vt head unit wont go into a vn cause it is a big unit. Personally i would go with pioneer for quality and good prices.

could i rip out that stupid moulded hole below the head unit in the vn to make room for the vt unit??
actually now that i think of it the vt one would look like **** in the vn dash... too black and too smooth and nice looking... :(

ok with putting in a big stereo is it worth putting in a voltage meter and possibly a bigger better alternator?? or are these a waste of money?

cheers
sam

Depends on what you mean by using a bigger stereo.....?

You won't know really until you get the system in and check things your headlights for dimming. But honestly? I would use a stiffening capacitor before upgrading alternator and battery(s)
