- VT Commodore Exec
G'day all,
Firstly, let me say thanks for all of the great info I've gotten from this forum over time.
I have a bog standard '99 VT Commodore Exec which I'm trying to coax as much life out of as I can. Now that a few parts are starting to fail, I'm trying to learn how to do as much as I can without sending it off to the doctor's!
So the other day, the car just wouldn't start. The symptoms I'd noticed seemed to match up with what I'd read about dodgy starter motors, so I just changed that over for one from a wrecker, but with no result. Assuming that the new motor is actually ok, I'd appreciate any suggestions for what else to try. Here are the possibly relevant symptoms:
- For a while now, the car's been sluggish to turn over when the engine's already hot
- A few days before the car broke down, I tried to start the car when cold, and it was really struggling, as though the battery was dying. But when I tried again a minute later, no problem.
- Drove to the supermarket (2min away), then when I got back to the car, it didn't start. From that point on, all I get is a click when I turn the key.
Thanks in advance for any help!
