My sons girlfriend has a 2002 VX series 2 Equipe with a M30 Gearbox and the last day or so it has been spewing oil out of the dipstick from the gearbox. Yes this gearbox could be suspect because it was serviced by someone else (not me) and possibly been overfilled. Now i would like to ask a question for the guys that have worked with automatic gearboxes before mainly on Holdens. What would cause when you turn the engine off and the auto dipstick is out sitting on the windscreen and oil fires out to a point it goes out the front of the car. i have never seen anything like this before in my life.

Possible loss of about 500ml to 1 litre of fluid has come out on the front of the car and on the floor. Now i know about the breather tube and being blocked but what other mechanical part of the gearbox can cause this?

by the way, i think the car has lost drive and reverse. maybe because it lost too much oil.

Spoke to one auto specialist and he said possible the wrong filter was used and it has come down away from the seal causing this oil spaying out of the filler pipe. The sump looks different compared to my Sons car yet the both are 2002 Commodore or statesman cars

From 4L60e common problems:

#28. All fluid pumped out through the vent tube: Plugged cooler line. Flush the transmission cooler and cooler lines. Also could be overfilled transmission.

This only has happened after the Auto place done a service on the auto ( A Mechanic shop not a Auto Expert). Now no oil came out from the Vent tube at all but for the first time it POPPED UP the Oil Dip stick in the Filler pipe that has a lock to stop to stop it coming up and spayed a little oil around the Brake Booster and firewall but and when I did it again Today for the first time with me I started the car after I drain about 500 ml out, run the car for 10-20second to see the oil level in Park then I turned the Engine off with the Auto Dip Stick OFF/ away where it lives and when the Engine was off OIL Sprayed like a garden hose on the Engine on the radiator and on the bumber bar and the frigging road. Yes about 750-1000 ML came out and after I lost Drive and Reverse.

This car had a Auto Service then in a day or so later It had the Engine mounts changed the days later the issue we have now. Possible the two pipe or one pipe was damaged/ blocked when they lifted the Engine up to change the Engine mounts

Sounds more like the pipe was squashed flat when changing the engine mounts. If it was a problem with the service, it would have done it straight away, not a few days later.

Possible but did not notice any flattered pipe but at the same time the car needs to be on a hoist to fully check it.

Proved now the car has a DEEP pan and if they used a short pan filter and the filter has fallen down there the reason why there is no drive now and if you fill it with a little more oil it when you have drive and after you turn the engine off the end of the filler pipe behave like a water cannon spraying oil everywhere.
I not touch the car and I wont take the sump of the auto off, I let a registered business do it and I want to see if you take the pan off and see if the filter is in it NOT still stuck to the auto box. I have now had 3 auto places tell me this that they might have use a short filter insteed
