VY VX ECU The Same?

Hi everyone. Is the vx and VY ecu the same? I know they both plug in but I’ve heard that they output differently? Just wanted to confirm. Thanks.

V6 or V8 ?
Auto or Manual ?

Keeping in mind, if and when your change it, it will need to be linked,
High end Scan tool required.

V6 Auto. I have tried linking them but it says communication error on a few different scan tools.
