Hi everyone. I have gone to a Holden wrecker near me and I have purchased a complete ecotec with transmission, ecu and wiring loom. i think my motor is either from a VY or VX as the first 2 digits of the engine are “VA” but I’m not too sure. I don’t know what my motor is out of but the wiring loom is VX, the transmission is a from a VX Calais series 2 and the computer is a VY. Will I get any fault codes? Thanks.

I think you can pair the ECU to the bcm and you are away.
But again, I'm not 100% on this and someone may contradict me.
On 2nd gen the plugs to the ECU changed along the way, so often the wiring (plug) needed to match the ECU.
I assume your loom and ECU you picked up physically connect together fine?

Not sure I haven’t tried plugging the wiring into the ecu yet. I will try when I get home tonight. The bcm is the original one. So VX V6 S PAC.

The wrecker will have the VIN of the car the engine came from. That will tell you what it came from.
