Band-aid solution. Those boxes are way too thing/flimsy. You need to add more layers of chopped strand mat + resin.

What do you guys think of Linzi's last suggestion? From what I understand it seems like it would work good?

Yes the wiring is correct. What ever the nominal impedance when you wire in parralel it halves. Personally though i'd be going with a pair of DVC, either that or using a SVC 2 ohm subs, which are a bit hard to come by. You don't have to spend a lot to get an amp that will run at 1 ohm.

Really? Please explain why not. By adding deadener, your adding mass to what is probably only 3mm thick fibre glass. More mass, less flex and vibration.

Pretty much what sweetfu said. Your not going to gain enough mass to be worthwhile by laying deadning panels on fiberglass, nor would it make the enclosure any stronger. If you want less flex simply make the enclosure stronger from the start. Still without internal bracing your going to be limited either way.

I'm planning on heading to the nearest car audio specialist store soon to see the range they have to offer, they offer Pioneer, Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Sony and Clarion. I've heard only good things about this dealer and they offer great advice and deals. So hopefully i should come out of there with a nice set up! would still like to hear of any systems that you recommend.

What's to reccomend? You all ready have the enclosures, so that limits things. It's not like we can look at different drivers and model up some enclosures and so forth. But at the end of the day a $100 sub will sound just that.
