How does it go at full throttle? Wouldn't that show up a blocked fuel filter more than at idle?
Possible vacuum leak at upper-lower manifold gaskets (cheaper on ebay)
Is the rough idle always there or only sometimes?

If you have a scanner, you can check the fuel trims, it will give you a good indication about a possible vacuum leak.
You can also check the O2 sensors voltage and behaviour before replacing them.

cheers mate. On my VR the fuel filter is external. There is usually a piece of metal mesh at the pickup line, but on the right hand side of the car at the rear, just next to the fuel tank is a metal filter with two lines going to it. obviously where the fuel goes in and out. the filter is just held on to the lines with hose clamps. on the vz it might be some special fitting. the fuel filter for my car cost me $13 so very cheap. my car was idling real rough but its happy now.

Sorry but alil lost,

Hello,
I'm wondering would anyone know any good mechanics around brisbane area, that know Alloytec engines,
I've just got a 05 v6 vz commadore, 212kls but clean for its age,
I noticed it lacked power compared to the older vy when I got it,
So i changed oil, filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter, ultratune tested coils an said everything seems fine,
But yet the engine still shakes a bit, ildes at about 600rpm but the car it self shakes a small bit,
Shakes more waiting at the lights,
Plus it seems very slow compared to the older vy, the vz is very laggy, foot pedal not very responsive,
Wonder is there any fix to that,

VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
Tech2, HP Tuner, are twothat come to mind.

Some really dubious information there by OP about how the ECU supposedly works. I’d be ignoring most of the list of steps and doing the basics as highlighted by many well known forum members in this thread.
