not only is it a awrite off, its a Statutory write off.
fire damage is ALWAYS a write off instantly.

The service guy didn't do the plugs because i asked him not to, was a bit strapped for cash and couldn't find the extra hundred bucks this week.

fair enough, was it a log book service at a dealer? cos if it was they're prices should include plugs and your getting ripped.

hopefully you get more than what redbook saying the guide price is cos 5k is uuhh how do i put this

id hate to disappoint those that are quoting Redbook.
The industry doesnt use Redbook, it uses GlassGuide.
That particular car is put through Glass and it spits out a number - thats what its worth.
every dent, mod, km condition etc for THAT car is entered, its not a generic model calculator.
I really wish people would stop quoting Redbook as it is NOT used by any reputable organisation that wants to keep its reputation.
the next best thing to Glass (thats FREE and POWERED by Glass) is http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/AdviceResearch/ - use the value a car service on that.
