What colour are these wheels?

Only have 1 car with black wheels....Made sure the black was broken up with a splattering of chrome

I used to hate black wheels, back when they started being a Thing (on alloys as opposed to trying to hide fugly steelies behind hubcaps) in the aftermarket, which would've probably been ... actually I reckon about when that VR HSV banana thing came out (and 3-spoke alloys were another!!).

I was well over it before VF came out though!

i thik the odd bit is the yellow callipers with a red car. Either the same colour as the car or black.

No, I don't like the yellow GTS calipers and I'd paint them red if they were mine. I think the chrome exhaust tips on the R8 look better than GTS black tips also.

They're more brown than black

Clean the old VK wheels are a satin black.

Here's a black and silver wheel comparison on red, my old R8 and a mate's GTS. The black wheels on the GTS ruins the car in my eyes!

The R8 with the silver Simmons looks bloody tough.

The GTS looks to be running black steel wheels with no hubcaps. Poor bloke must be hard up for cash..

How about some white wheels on my old VR GTS. These were my track wheels with Dunlop D98 R spec tyres at a hill climb in 1996. I think it was the last open hill climb I won in the road registered category before the all-wheel drives, WRX's and Evo Lancer's came on stream and couldn't match them in a Commodore off the line.

Only wheel colour I dislike more on a modern Holden than black is white. There is a VE getting around here with white five spokes IIRC. It's bad, real bad.

White wheels aren't common now, but there was a bit of white in the day the V8 Supercar controlled wheels were supplied white. White SV91 VN's had white spoke 16" Walkinshaw wheels.

i think its called ''shadow chrome'' that is silver and black at the same time

Shadow chrome (and to a further extent "spirit yellow" on some VZs) are a powdered base and painted top.
Shadow chrome is a black base.
Spirit yellow is a yellow base.
The silver paint on top is done in a way that under some angles you should be to see some speckles of the base.

Just search up "SV6000 wheels" to see that spirit yellow as I'm sure you've seen countless shadow chrome rims before.

Maybe the Rapier Photos were taken where no black was showing through

I changed the centres on my Simmons for obvious reasons
then
got offered ridiculous $ for the nice all polished ones so I sold them
