I have a ticking sound and all the same problems with lights, window wiper etc. however I think I damaged the bcm when I was code checking and crossed the 5-6 points I forgot to take out the clip, my partner started the car before I could get to pull it out. What do I do now I'm sure the bcm is the problem

You won't have damaged your car by starting it with pins 5&6 still bridged. That's what you need to do in order to set the static timing to 10 degrees BTDC on a Commmodore EFI V8 so it's perfectly normal (even if you didn't mean to do it in your case). I've re-posted the BCM information included in my post #13 as the links no longer apply and the original post can't be edited.

BCM controls things like power windows, central locking, air-con/climate control, alarm/immobiliser, priority keys etc (most electrics not related to the powertrain)

The only time you'd want to think about upgrading it is if you're retrofitting a feature which isn't supported by your spec of BCM. Just upgrading the BCM alone isn't going to give you anything.

AFAIK there are 4 specs of BCM, low/mid/high/luxury.

My VS ute has a BCM that is clicking eg. relay switching.
Could this be the reason that the aircon doesn't work at all ( the switch doesn't even light up)
