So some smokers aren't mentally or physically in control of their own actions and some are? LOL! Yeah, right...

like i said in my previous posts, my father gave up cold turkey when he wanted to many years ago on will power alone. my mother on the other hand has given up smoking more times then i can count (a few times for medical reasons) but has always ended up smoking again. she has probably use all the aids available. this time around it's been about 9 months. so yes, i can say that will power is only part of the equation. the problem with quitting smoking is also that although you may want to quit, there are many situations where you encounter other smokers and 2nd hand smoke which would be the equivalent to a alcoholic walking through a shower of alcohol.

the medical consequences of addiction are well proven

Entertaining thread that's for sure. :)
I hate smoking, won't operate a piece of earthmoving machinery after a smoker has been in it because it stinks like ****. It's a dirty ugly smelly habit that will damage your health and contribute to problems later on in life, if you make it that far that is so DON'T DO IT!!
Now, i'm off to the pub for some healthy alcohol :p

If you don't like it, don't do it.

You have to die of something, why not make it something you enjoy?

I fell sorry for all the health freaks. Years from now, they'll be lying in their hospital beds, dieing of nothing....

yeah real healthy, that's why i don't drink anymore because it nearly killed me.
thats why i have cardiomyopathy.
people don't realise just how much damage alcohol does to them.
alcohol,ciggies,drugs-everyone has their vices.
you don't see the government carrying on about grog like they do smokes, even though grog does damage quicker than smoking
