Missed a few 6 cylinders.

That one shows 2 motors that were non-existant in the Commodore range

The Holden photo and chart are what Holden was developing in 1965
Read the title of the post which made it clear if read (and understood)
Over the next 12 years Holden improved upon what they built in 1965
They were well aware that their engine lineup in 1965 could not compete,
especially with Ford, in the tears to come. 12 years of developement time
before the "all new, 1978 VB".

You have missed a 6 cyl engine that was available in the Commodore range that didn't have the HP the 6 cyl had you have posted up..

Can you explain why Holden would have done that, especially when Ford had a bigger capacity 6 cylinder engine available?

You forgot the other manufacturer that was in the market in Australia that Holden and Ford were competing with.....

Both Holden and Ford could get any where near the HP that the third big manufacturer was getting, however where Holden and Ford had the edge was with body and suspension design...

So better get back to your research before continuing on with this crap

No
I chose not to mention them as inexpensive V8's was what Holden was working on in 1965.
The only reason for my post.

"They were well aware that their engine lineup in 1965 could not compete,
especially with Ford, in the years to come."

You post a thread about "What The VB Improved On" but then post a engine power chart from the 60's.

The VB never came with a 308 motor that produced 250hp so there is no correlation or relevance.

Yes there is.
The title is what the VB IMPROVED upon
before the VB, way before in 1965
Holden built that 308 in 1965 and made incremental improvements to it and learned from it and that
informed their VB choices. The engines in 1978 benefitted from all that Holden learned in 1965 and right
up to 1978 (and 2017).
It is adult to clarify what I think is factual. As good as Holden engines got by 1965 and 1978, they had to be the product
of what they learned from long before. It's a compliment. Learning from experience, with engines they never put into a VB.
What the 1978 "VB improved upon" was the engines in developement in 1965.

How did they improve on a V8 that didn't exist in the line up in 1965, let alone in later years ?
