Ok I don’t know how to close a thread or to label it as solved or something but I figured it out myself the issue it was the actual lock knob on the interior was not getting pushed far enough by the mechanism causing the shock of closing the door to cause the mechanism to register it as closed and lock the car. I then searched the forum and found out this is a known issue and I took off the door card and lubed up the area that the button at the top slides with some powdered graphite (the stuff for doors as I didn’t think wd40 or sewing machine oil were good choices as that’s what I had on hand at my girlfriends where I am isolating with her) and it seems to have worked for now but would like it to be pushed further out bulky the mechanism and I’m not sure if this is due to wear, play in the system or a weak actuator and would like any ideas on ensuring I don’t lock the keys in the car again.
