I fixed my corrugated pipe using a spare flex clear tube from my fish tank pump. Fitted nice and tight into the neck and the bottle. 4 months now and not a single leak. Washer works great all the time. That tube would've cost me a buck. Happy.
finally got around to replacing the climate control unit, luckily scored one for $10 and is all good now. thanks so much for your help. time for a regas. boo.
Vacuum lines fixed. Turned out to be loose connection, put it back tight and all good. Now have all modes of vent.
Might bite the bullet and get another CC controller unit from the wreckers as trying to diagnose the yellow black cable is just not getting any results. Last hurdle, hope this pain...
I've just installed climate control into my VP exec. Got 2 problems remaining.
1) Blower fan not triggering on any speed. Checked blower fan direct + - connection and working fine. Relay double checked according to install document. Should yellow black wire from CC plug output 12 volts on...
In the middle of putting climate box into my vp exec. Noticed climate box have 2 drain pipes at base of unit however my vp only have one hole on the left side for drain. Is it necessary to make another hole or can I just add a tube to join the right drain pipe to the hole in the floor on the...
There is a single connector with blue wire coming from loom off a VN climate heater box, located on right side of blower fan. What is purpose of this blue wire and what does it hook up to? Thanks.
Weeks after i got my car I found My nokia Bluetooth module was installed & connection was behind the glovebox next to the blower fan. But I think there may be a separate connector to the right side of the stereo behind the kick panel.
That's correct. 3 timing chains. Chains gotta be align perfectly. Did my timing chain replacement myself, and yes labour did kill me. Big job. Dunno if I still have the full quote of all parts that I got from Holden. Gotta hunt it down.
The sensor is easy to change. See if it's that first. Otherwise if not then you're up for a major timing chain replacement. Don't just quote Holden for the job. Other auto workshops can do it for a lot cheaper. Sooner you fix it the better. I let mine to the point it started damaging the guides...
ahhh, stretched timing chain??? that's the code on my ve omega i had before. was quoted $2600 (no good will) to fix from holden in wollongong, didn't have the money so i fixed it myself for $1200. all good now.
After new oil change and new oil filter completed on my VP, now every time car starts shows a permanent check engine light. Tried diagnostics mode but keeps on flashing rapidly and no pause so can't make out if any codes being spit out. Also tried disconnect battery for 10 mins, still not fixed...
I have the exact same device. Set a lower baud rate like 9600 and should be fine. OBDII is standard in all modern cars due to emission controls so your device would have no problems picking up data from your VE. You can pickup extra data by modifying the device to handle GM specific CANBUS data...
My load resistors are separate to the bulbs as for better cooling & hiding spot. Load resistors can get very hot at times. Mine is spliced into the indicator loom outside the assembly. Search the following on Ebay: Flash Rate Load Resistors LED Turn Signals Controllers
Seller is zsjladyshop. I...
I have led bulbs on all 4 indicators and they each have connected load resistors with heatsinks which stops fast blinkers. You can easily get them off ebay. Love em.
symptom for my timing chain issue before was:
engine less responsive
chain rattles only when starting car
engine a bit wobbly
scanned codes P0016 P0018
fixed it myself but i can understand why mechanics wants $1600 to do it. i think that's a fair price, considering its a major pain job...
The power mirror on the passenger side works up & down but not in & out. I replaced the whole assembly yet still the same. The controls at the drivers door works completely for the drivers power mirror but when switched to the passenger side it only go up & down. Is it the switch playing up...
Done this to my Omega, all bolt ons. Hoist would've been nice but didn't have that luxury so I improvised using 2 moving dollys. Just make sure the exhaust is not touching any part of the exhaust bays as you don't want the exhaust to vibrate against car.
p0016 & p0018 is my code for stretched timing chain fault. a holden dealer quoted me $2600, i didn't have the cash so i did it myself for $1200. my car had just done 99,800km when it happened.
harmonic balancer --- i used the 3 claw puller, found out as i tightened the puller bolt the claw would sometime slip so i get electrical tape wrap around 3 claws to hold its position so claws don't slip off.
power steering pump --- this and the a/c compressor are an effort to remove & install...

Yes this was annoying until i drilled a whole in the plastic for a small screw and screwed it into the carpet behind. Then go over the screw with a black marker to disguise it. It holds very well. Happy no falling panels.
mine settings are egress lighting feature where my headlights & brake lights & reverse lights come on for 15-30 seconds when the car unlocks from remote or boot is opened from remote. its handy at night when i need to walk the kids to the car where there's little or no light.
i got a new century battery for my VE from battery world last week, cost me $175. there were two types, standard and heavy duty, i went for the heavy duty one (580CCA). free installation at the shop as well, great service.
sorry to hear, shouldn't expect anything from holden. anyways i just finished doing the repairs myself and costed me under $1000 for parts & tools. see the following link as others with this problem are doing it themselves...
Had to jump start it a few times, even at the petrol station after I filled up. Battery needs replacing. Battery was not connected for 3 weeks for the timing job. It does not wobble at idle and engine revs seems to be restored and not gutless like before.
HOORAY!!!!!! Car had trouble starting due to battery low so jump started it with my other car and now is running ok. No codes or engine lights so good... just waiting for a few runs just to check if any leaking oil from covers but so far so good... Thanks to everyone for their advice. Really...
Finally got the new timing chains installed, all perfectly lined up with the markings. In the process of cleaning covers & gasket areas. Can I use the crankshaft balancer bolt/washer to reinstall the pulley or do i need a special tool? Thanks.
Chaney, sorry to hear your job didn't go as smoothly but hope it get back in order real soon. Are you yet to know where it went wrong?
Question: My crankshaft rotates ok by hand but the cams are stiff as and needs a bit of effort to rotate. Are the cams able to move more freely somehow? (I...
i got the chains off tonight and measured them...
left & right old chains were equal length, then compare them with the new chains and no difference in length.
centre old chain compared with centre new chain result is the older chain is 4 millimetres longer (stretched).
now its time to put the...
finally was able to remove the front timing cover. i received my flywheel locking tool today in the post from the USA and it works great. used a breaker bar to get the balancer bolt off no problems. now that i'm short on time cos' i gotta return to work this work, its gonna take longer to...
a few quick answers needed please:
does spark plugs need to be removed?
how is the a/c bracket not be removed? there is one bolt for the timing cover behind the bracket.
is a breaker bar enough to crack open the balancer bolt? if not then i'll borrow my mates compressor.
is it necessary to lock...
Holden gave me a parts list costing about $1200 for the lot (to get it done properly). Special tools are likely to set me back another $400. Hey this is better than forking out $2600 to get done by a Holden dealership who couldn't care less about the car anyways.
That's for the chains only. Guides & tensioners are extra costs, which I'm getting bit by bit due to my weekly budget constraints. Just ordered my flywheel holder $60 from the US so waiting for that to arrive as that is holding up my progress (the same flywheel holder to order from a supplier...
I've just started this massive job. So far two steps away from removing the front engine cover but first the hurdle to get the aircon bracket off. And the final hurdle is to find a shop or someone who has a V6 Flywheel Holder (Locking tool EN-46106) and then I'll be able to tackle the harmonic...
